Diskreetse Mango Trio's members themselves call the music style played "power-folk" which means traditional folk songs blended with powerful rock music.

Diskreetse Mango Trio (in translation The Discreet Mango Trio) is a band consisting of 9 members and was formed in February 2003. Diskreetse Mango Trio's members themselves call the music style played "power-folk" which means traditional folk songs blended with powerful rock music.

At the present moment Diskreetse Mango Trio unites musicians with very different backgrounds - the members of the band vary from musicians with strong theoretical background to self-taught amateur-musicians with not a single day of musical education. But such a different background is often the key to diverse ideas in the arrangement process of the songs.

Since the people in Estonia and elsewhere have started to alienate from folk culture, Diskreetse Mango Trio has set as one of its goals to reintroduce folk culture to the people. Diskreetse Mango Trio hopes to achieve this by giving a new and interesting perspective to folk music. The novelty of the approach consists in the blending of the so-called "new folk music" - different styles of popular music, with the traditional folk music. Through such a point of view Diskreetse Mango Trio hopes to provoke people's interest in folk music and folk culture in general.

The variety of different music styles used allows Diskreetse Mango Trio to perform on musical events with very diverse nature. The resume of Diskreetse Mango Trio includes performances from jazz and folk music festivals to real pop and rock concerts. In spite of the variety of events, Diskreetse Mango Trio's fresh approach to folk music has always accomplished to positively surprise the audience as well as the organizers.
